Kids activities in Rhodes
In Rhodes there are many very easily accessible kids activities.
Firstly Faliraki Waterpark is the biggest in Europe.
There is also a Luna Park in Faliraki with ferris wheels and dodgems and ten pin bowling.
Towards Rhodes town there is an Aquarium at the marina which is free at certain times of the day for small children.
Many beaches are child friendly but Eli beach is a lovely one for children with shallow clear water.
Further round toward Ixia is great for slightly older children as many of the surf and wakeboard schools offer very reasonable taster sessions for older kids.
In land we have a llama farm with all the usual suspects….camels, wild boar and goats to feed and along this same road is also the Butterfly Valley, which is very cool and shaded with hundreds of butterflies (in July and August). There is also Epta Piges, the 7 springs which appear from the ground, ducks to feed, waterfalls and a tunnel through the mountain.
Take a walk to the old town of Rhodes and the Castle of the Knights with the museum in Rhodes Town. This is a MUST especially for older children!
Try the Waterland in Tsampika beach and water sports.
Visit the playgrounds of Milou, Aktaion and Passagio, suitable for all ages in Rhodes town.
Finally further south in Lindos is a great place for kids of all ages. In town there are 5 euro donkey rides to the acropolis, endless ice cream and souvenirs shops to look at. Down to the shallow, sandy beach are pedal boats and an inflatable waterpark in the sea.
Apart from art and crafts, play-dough, picnics, dens, treasure hunt, water play, making sandcastles , listening to Greek music and learning a few new words, songs and dance, here are some more specific activities we suggest for children who visit Greece and the Greek islands, with a Kids In Greece Nanny.
Rhodes is one of the largest and most beautiful Greek islands. Its landscape mainly comprises of hills and low mountains, which are mostly covered with forests. It’s climate is subtropical and healthy, with refreshing westerly winds in the summer, while the winter is nearly alwaysmild, with long periods of sunshine.
Rhodes Town is a popular place to visit, consisting of the new City of Rhodes and the Old Town of Rhodes, the latter being the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe. The city has an excellent tourist infrastructure and offers a wide variety of entertainment (night-life, sports, cultural events, and day trips to wonderful Lindos and the neighboring islands like Kos, Patmos, Karpathos, Kalymnos and Leros).
There are also many interesting places to visit outside the City, with many wonderful sandy beaches, museums and historic buildings. Windsurfing is also very popular here.
The winter temperature (Dec-Mar) is around 15C whilst in the summer it averages around 25c, with a peak of 30c, July/Aug being the hottest.
